    Call for 2024 JSM Invited Program Sessions

     

    The deadline for submitting invited session proposals to JSM 2024 in Portland, Oregon, is September 7, 2023 (11:59 p.m. Eastern, 8:59 p.m. Pacific).<u1:p></u1:p>

    Please consider choosing Risk Analysis Section as your first priority sponsor.  Sessions related to the theme of JSM 2024 ; "Statistics and Data Science: Informing Policy and Countering Misinformation" is encouraged.  

     <u1:p></u1:p>Several items for your consideration:<u1:p></u1:p>

               The theme for JSM 2024 is " Statistics and Data Science," but not all sessions have to adhere to this theme.<u1:p></u1:p>

               Formats vary for invited sessions; however, all are 110 minutes in length and have a session chair. The sessions typically include 2–6 participants, including the chair, with two of the most popular and successful formats being 2–3 speakers with a discussant or a panel discussion of 3–5 panelists. <u1:p></u1:p>

               Please contact potential participants before submitting a proposal, as they already may have committed to participating in another session at JSM 2024. There are participation guidelines and restrictions regarding the number of times and in what capacity one can participate in the program: ww2.amstat.org/meetings/jsm/2024/guidelines.cfm.  <u1:p></u1:p>

               Organizers can select up to three (3) potential sponsors for their proposal submissions.<u1:p></u1:p>

     The information needed to submit an invited session proposal is provided below. If you encounter any problems with the online system, please contact Naomi Friedman at naomi@amstat.org. You will need to have the following information to submit your session proposal online:<u1:p></u1:p>

    1.         Session Type (Invited Paper or Invited Panel)<u1:p></u1:p>

    2.         Sponsor (Outside Organization, ASA Committee, ASA Section, Sponsoring Society, ASA Journal). Select no more than three sponsors.<u1:p></u1:p>

    3.         Session Title<u1:p></u1:p>

    4.         Session Description - Please provide a short description of the session, including focus, content, timeliness, appeal, and format of the session.<u1:p></u1:p>

    5.         Session organizer, including affiliation and email address<u1:p></u1:p>

    6.         Session chair, including affiliation and email address<u1:p></u1:p>

    7.         Session speakers and any discussants, including affiliation and email address.<u1:p></u1:p>
