The mission of St. Jude is singular and unwavering: to advance cures and means of prevention for catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. The St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences extends this mission by training the next generation of scientists and data innovators to tackle the world’s most complex biomedical challenges.
The St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences ASA Student Chapter stands at the intersection of these efforts, empowering students to translate data into discovery. Through professional development, collaboration, and community engagement, the chapter fosters a culture of statistical excellence and ethical data science. By equipping students with the tools to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex data, the chapter contributes directly to St. Jude’s mission, accelerating research, informing clinical decision-making, and ultimately improving outcomes for patients worldwide.
Founded by students in the MS in Applied Biomedical Data Science program, the ASA Student Chapter was created to expand opportunities for leadership, connection, and impact. The chapter serves as a platform for students to grow their professional networks, increase their visibility across campus, and build meaningful community. Through strategic partnerships with the Graduate Student Association, the Office of Student Affairs, the ASCEND Mentoring Program, and the Office of Data Science, the chapter invites participation from students across the graduate school, creating a collaborative environment where members can contribute to and uphold the shared mission of advancing science and improving human health.
